The Mini Melties is a collection of 2000 generative animations, created by Buff Monster and animated by Jimmy in Motion. The basis for this art collection is Buff Monster’s signature character called “Mister Melty”, presented here in mini form. Having used Mister Melty for over 10 years for murals, paintings, prints, and everything in between, this was a unique opportunity for Buff to explore the possibilities of generative artwork, looping animation, and the permanence that the blockchain offers.
The NFTs became available to mint on September 22nd. Each animation is represented by a ERC-721 token on the Ethereum blockchain.
“Over the last couple years, I’ve followed so many NFT projects, and for my first big proper collection, I wanted it to be unique and special, and better than most," says Buff Monster of the release. "Anyone that already follows and collects my work knows that I take my time to make all my projects and releases the best that they can be. I never half-ass anything, which is why so many of my projects take a long time to realize (and this project is no different)."
“As the website explains, this is first and foremost an art project. Jimmy and I worked for months on getting these animations dialed in to look the absolute best. I couldn’t have teamed up with a better animator," Buff Monster explains. "He made these little guys walk and bounce in such an appropriately joyful way, and patiently made so many little tweaks at my request. The end result is 2000 animated characters that capture such a wide variety of traits and coloring; each one is unique and looks like a signature Buff Monster piece."
Here's what Buff Monster has planned for the release:
The Swap: A small number of hand-painted die-cut pieces. Buff Monster is promising something different than burning NFTs to make one of these yours!
Exclusive Collectibles: Mini Melties will get access to exclusive collectibles.
One lucky collector will get the first die-cut painting for FREE.
"The goal is to create a nice community of collectors; a mix of existing collectors of paintings and editions, along with new digital collectors,"Buff Monster says. "By holding one or more of these tokens, you’ll be part of this community and have access to new info and new releases. And like everything else that I release, I want the collectors to be proud of their collection because they knew that I made it the absolute best that I could.”
