Jason Madara photographs two stories for the latest issue of GENLUX

To help us get into gear for the Fall season, Jason worked closely with fashion editor and stylist Mindy Saad to craft a story in two parts for this season’s issue of GENLUX.

Since his college days Jason has been drawn to fashion photography, eyeing visionaries such as Guy Bourdin and Richard Avadon. In this latest project he nods to that classic era while pushing the boundaries with more contemporary compositions in a way that feels singular and fully himself.

He came to Mindy with a specific idea of motion in mind and called for the models to be free in their poses while shooting in-studio. This opened the door for a more authentic experimentation- the likes of which we see in his most recent body of personal work. Shot no-frills on a clean background with a singular light source, Jason allows this idea of movement and being comfortable in your clothing to take center stage. Brands featured include Versace, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Chanel, Chloé, and more.

This is just the beginning of a new direction for Jason, one that to him feels full circle as he taps into the excitement of his early days in photography, and we are here for it!
